Wrigley renovation includes EFCO® for large-scale window replacement project

CHICAGO, Oct.  4, 2012 − Chicago’s historic Wrigley building will undergo a facelift designed to help improve its looks and its energy efficiency.

EFCO, a leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum windows, curtain wall, storefront, and entry systems, has been awarded the contract to supply new replacement energy-efficient windows throughout the landmark Wrigley building, prominently located on the Windy City’s famed Magnificent Mile.

Replacement window installation is expected to begin in December of 2012. The project will entail retrofitting more than 2000 of Wrigley’s existing windows with new EFCO windows, including the Series 690 Double Hung/Tilt and the Series 6825 Projected and Fixed products.

“These EFCO historical replacement windows utilize insulating glass units featuring dual silicone sealed argon gas, and a high-performance Low-e coating. “This combination provides excellent daylight transmittance and thermal performance,” according to Dave Hewitt, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for EFCO.

“We’re thrilled to be working on such an iconic and important piece of Chicago architecture,” Hewitt said. “By replacing the existing windows of the Wrigley Building, we’re helping increase overall thermal performance and energy efficiency, as well as seal the building envelope. Our goal is to make sure we meet the owner’s needs for both window performance and value.”
